For books one through three!

Cole Magnus

Book One

How did you come up with the name Cole Magnus ? - Abby

“I always look into the meaning of every name I consider. Magnus sounds a lot like ‘magnificent,’ and I liked how that paired with Cole, meaning ‘victory.’ Together, Cole’s name means ‘magnificent victory’. To me, it was a promise that no matter what happens at the end of book one, Cole has a victory coming. At the end of the day, even if he had to watch the world burn, there is always hope that the smoke will clear and a better day will dawn.” - Grace

Why did the book end like that ? - Jack

“It’s really hard to answer this question without giving away any spoilers!  All I will say is that it was necessary to get Cole ready for the next step after the battle at River Haven.  In order for him to play the role I intended in this prophecy, he needed to be *pushed*.  When I wrote the ending, I didn’t laugh and have tea with Satan, I cried just as much as you did, I promise.  Please believe me: we’re in the same boat there. ” - Grace

Why does the last chapter end with the first line? - Judy

(small spoiler ahead!)

“A very scholarly question! In high school I learned about this thing called “A Hero’s Journey” which is basically a ‘formula’, if you will, about every story ever written.  Believe it or not, just about EVERY story does fit “A Hero’s Journey.”  “AHJ” starts the ‘hero’, Cole in this case, in an ‘ordinary world’ then takes him through this ‘circle’ of adventure.  In the end, “AHJ” states that the ‘Hero’ returns to their ordinary world changed from his adventure.  I thought that fit Cole’s situation beautifully.  He ends this book in Carlin, the town he and Lyla first entered in Chapter One.  It shows just how much Cole has matured in the story.  The first time he says, “There was no way this was safe,” it’s almost a joke.  Despite the danger, he has a boyish joy for the thrill, but, by the end of the story, his outlook has completely changed.  It’s no longer a joke; he’s stating a fact.  He’s ready to give up, and he knows what that could cost him. ” - Grace

Are any of the places mentioned in Cole Magnus real? - sam

“Does my imagination count? While some of the names mentioned are real places, each place and character is original to the story.” - Grace

How can I get active in the Fog Saga ? - Allie

“Lots of ways!  First: get the book!  By reading Cole’s story, you are already part of the journey.  Second: you can submit fan art to be featured on the website.  Do you sculpt?  Draw?  Bake?  Write? Sew?  No matter the form, I’d love to see them!  The steps to enter are at the bottom of the “Fan Art Page”  Third: (possibly the most important one), tell your friends about Cole!  The more readers Cole has, the farther his adventure can spread!” - Grace

Kam Kovah

Book two

Do I need to read Cole Magnus before I can read Kam KOvah? - Allie

“Excellent question! Unlike most series, you don’t have to read the books in order. If you have never read book one, you can still read and enjoy book two with no spoilers for the first book!” - Grace

Why is eztenburg polytheistic?

“An excellent question! One book series that first hooked me into reading was the Percy Jackson series. Percy lived among and dealt with many ancient Greek gods in the books. This set in motion my love for mythology. Since then, I have loved all kinds of mythology, which found its way into my writing. I wanted Eztenburg to resemble an old Viking village, so I read up on Norse mythology. I found it very convoluted, with many strange family trees and wild stories. The mythology in the book is a simplified version of old Norse mythology. While I took a few creating liberties, all the temples in the town square, names of deities, and even the stories about Rip are meant to resemble those built by vikings. ” - Grace
